Devendra Fadnavis to face trail for allegedly not declaring criminal cases: Supreme Court

New Delhi: Overturning the Maharashtra High Court's order, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will face trail for allegedly not declaring his two criminal cases in the poll affidavit in 2014, media reports said.

The high court had earlier cleared the Maharashtra Chief Minister of the poll-related complaint.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said the case would be heard by a magistrate's court.

Two cases were filed against Fadnavis in 1996 and 1998 for his alleged cheating and forgery.

However, the case, according to media reports, won't affect him in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections which will be held on Oct 21.
