Ram Kripal attacks administration for not providing relief to flood-hit people
Patna, Oct 3 (UNI) Former union minister and BJP MP from Patliputra Ram Kripal Yadav on Thursday accused administration of not taking effective steps for providing succour to flood hit people.
Yadav told newspersons here that he had been repeatedly making calls to the district magistrate of Patna for the last three days but he was not picking up them.
He said his entire parliamentary constituency was in the grip of flood and waterlogging.
The MP said that no relief work was being done in his constituency adding sub-divisional officer (SDO) refused to accompany him during his visit to the flood-hit area of his constituency albeit the officer had received his call.
He said no other officer had also accompanied him even when SDO promised to send an officer for the purpose.
“As a representative of people, I will have to go to my constituency and meet them but now they will beat me. What else I can do, it is officers' duty to provide relief to people but they are not doing their work,” he remarked.
As it is, Yadav had a providential escape on Wednesday when his boat capsized in flood water of Dardha river near Ranibigha village under Dhanarua police station area.
A makeshift boat ferrying Yadav, who was going to meet flood-affected people of his constituency had capsized in the flood water of Dardha river.
People present on the spot had saved Yadav and others aboard the boat from drowning by making efforts.
Similarly, Union Minister and BJP MP from Begusarai Giriraj Singh had held NDA government responsible for waterlogging in various localities of the state capital following incessant rainfall.
He said only nature could not be held responsible for such a pitiable condition asserting it was the consequence of gross negligence of system and administration.
The government had alerted people on heavy rainfall but could not make preparation for flushing out from various localities of the state capital, he had stated.
“It is my inner pain,” he remarked.
