Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to receive first Rafale fighter jets today
New Delhi: Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will receive the first of the 36 Rafale fighter jets for the Air Force on Tuesday on the occasion of Air Force Day and Dussehra at the Merignac airbase in France.
The Defence Minister will perform Shastra Pooja, after receiving the fighter jet on the occasion of Dussehra in Bordeaux and then take a sortie in the aircraft, Defence Ministry officials said.
Before going to Bordeaux, Singh will meet French President Emmanuel Macron where the two countries will discuss a wide range of issues.
Singh will also meet French President Emmanuel Macron before going to Bordeaux where he will hold bilateral talks to deepen the ties between India and France.

Singh also greeted the Indian Air Force and said: "Greetings to all @IAF_MCCpersonnel and their families on the 87th IAF Day. Though the Rafale air jets will be officially inducted after Defence Minister receives them in Bordeaux, the aircrafts will be delivered not before May 2020 after the training of pilots and personnel is completed.
