Kolkata: Amid a face-off between West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and the ruling Trinamool Congress over the killing of three people in West Bengal's Murshidabad, actress-filmmaker Aparna Sen urged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take action against the perpetrators without seeing any political colours.

Sen tweeted, "Pregnant wife & child of RSS man slaughtered in our own WB! Whatever the reason for such a gruesome act, shame on us! Madam CM! Pls ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice! Irrespective of political inclinations, all citizens of WB are ur responsibility. U are CM to all!"

Sen's tweet came hours after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Sambit Patra and Babul Supriyo have accused the "liberals" of selective outrage.

Replying to Patra, Supriyo, who is also a Union Minister, said, "Brother, these Liberals wil do nothing !! They won’t write a word but when one of them fail to find producers, they will run to delhi to lobby for NFDC funds shamelessly & how.. have already encountered 2 of them .. won’t name them cuz they do not deserve that either."

A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker, his pregnant wife, and their eight-year-old son were found dead in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

The bodies of Bondhu Gopal Pal, a 35-year-old primary school teacher, his wife Beauty, and son were found lying in a pool of blood inside their residence on Tuesday in Jiaganj area of the district, the police had said.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Dhankar had said, "I urge the state administration to take immediate action without looking into other considerations."

Countering Dhankar, Trinamool Secretary General and West Bengal Minister, Partha Chatterjee, said, "The Governor is belittling his post by making such comments. He is crossing the line."
