Guwahati: The troops of Border Security Force (BSF) seized Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) having a value of Rs 1.06 lakh and apprehended a Bangladeshi national in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district along the Indo-Bangladesh border on Tuesday.

Based on intelligence input regarding smuggling of FICN through international border with Bangladesh from general area of BOP Rajai and BOP Gumaghat in East Khasi Hills, the troops of 11 battalion of BSF conducted special ambushes along the international border on the most probable routes in the jungle and riverine areas.

During the ambush the BSF personnel apprehended one Bangladeshi national named 68-year-old Bhola Sangma about 200 meters from the international border.

The BSF personnel recovered 53 pieces of Rs 2000 fake currency note denomination having a face value of Rs 1.06 lakh in possession from him.

A top official of BSF based in Shillong said that, the BSF personnel seized 49 pieces of FICN notes serial number from 2BE-904054 to 2BE-904097 and four pieces with serial number 2BE-904027, 2BE-904044, 2BE-904006 and OKF-304747 in possession from the Bangladeshi national.

The apprehended person wrapped the FICN in a polythene packet and concealed in his innerwear.

The BSF personnel also recovered a mobile phone with two numbers of Bangladeshi SIM card in possession from him.

On preliminary questioning, the apprehended person revealed that FICN were handed over to him by another Bangladeshi national named Insan Ali and he was to deliver the same to an Indian national.

The apprehended person along with FICN handed over to Ranikor police station in South West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya for further legal action

It is likely that in detailed interrogation, more names will come up who are involved in this FICN rackets.
