Manipur HC quashed MPSC exam, 2016 and directed CBI to probe

Guwahati: The Manipur High Court on Friday has quashed the controversial MCSCCE examination, 2016 for selection of 62 posts of Manipur Civil Service (MCS), Manipur Police Service (MPS) and other allied services and directed the CBI to investigate it.

A division bench of the Manipur High Court, comprising of Justice Kh. Nobin Singh and Justice Lanusungkum Jamir quashed the MCSCCE examination, 2016 conducted by the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC).

In the order, the division bench also quashed and set aside the judgment order of Feb 28, 2017 dated by a single judge bench.

The order said that: "The writ petitions WP(C) No. 606 of 2017, WP(C) No.725 of 2017 and WP(C) No.313 of 2018 are allowed and consequently, the Main Examination, 2016 initiated and conducted pursuant to the Notification dated 07-04-2016 issued by the MPSC is quashed and set aside and further, the consequential orders dated 22-06-2017, 26-06- 2017 issued by the Deputy Secretary (DP), Government of Manipur and the order dated 23-06-2017 issued by the Deputy Secretary (Revenue), Government of Manipur are quashed and set aside."

The division bench also directed the Manipur Public Service Commission to conduct the main examination, 2016 afresh after due notice being given to the candidates.

The Manipur High Court also directed the CBI to conduct a probe over it within three months.
