Five arrested in murder of Uttar Pradesh right wing leader Kamlesh Tiwari
Lucknow/IBNS: Five people, including two Muslim clerics, were arrested by a combined team of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat Police for the murder of Kamlesh Tiwari, the right wing leader of a political party in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday.
Briefing media OP Singh, Director-General (Police), UP said the accused were radicalised by a speech Tiwari had given in 2015 and much more would come out.
"Prima facie this is a radical killing. These people were radicalized by the speech that he (Kamlesh Tiwari) gave in 2015, but much more can come out when we catch hold of the remaining criminals," Singh said.
Three suspects who have been arrested were caught on CC TV from outside the slain leader's house.
Reports said three people were arrested in Gujarat and two Muslim clerics were nabbed from west UP's Bijnor district.
Those arrested from Gujarat have been identified as Maulana Mohsin Shiekh (24) Rasheed Pathan (23) and Faizan (21), said reports.
UP top cop said they had suspected a Gujarat links from beginning and accordingly acted in cooperation with Gujarat Police.
Earlier on the direction from Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Oradesh police had set up a Special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the killing of the Hindutva leader- Kamlesh Tiwari- in the state capital on Friday.
The SIT was constituted after CM sought report from the officials over the killing on Friday.
Earlier DGP OP Singh had claimed that the criminals would be nabbed within 48 hours as police has got enough evidences.
Kamlesh Tiwari, founder of Hindu Samaj Party was stabbed and shot dead by two criminals inside his house in Khurshidbagh area of the old city in Lucknow on Friday noon.
