West Bengal: BJP leaders visit arrested Congress leader Sanmoy Banerjee's house

Kolkata, Oct 19 (UNI) Three BJP leaders, including their senior Joyprakash Mazumder,on Saturday visited arrested Congress leader Sanmoy Banerjee's house in North 24 Parganas, after he was picked up by the police for alleged circulating “objectionable” content against the West Bengal government and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Sanmoy Banerjee, accused of campaigning against the state government and the chief minister over the past few years through several social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.Shutterstcok.

Sanmoy Banerjee, a state unit spokesperson of the Congress, was arrested by Purulia police in the early hours of Friday from his Agarpara home on the charge of circulating “objectionable” content on

social media against the Bengal government and chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Sanmoy, a four-term councillor of the Panihati municipality who unsuccessfully contested the Panihati Assembly seat as a Left-backed Congress candidate in 2016, was arrested in connection with a complaint lodged with the cyber crime wing of Purulia police by a local advocate, police sources said.

BJP leader Joyprakash Mazumder, BJP 's women wing leader Agnimitra Paul and party's north subarban district committee president Kishor Kar today visited the house at Illiuas Road in Agarpara.

and met the relatives of the arrested Congress leader and expressed their solidarity with Banerjee.
