Locals catch fraud IPS officer in Assam’s Biswanath

Guwahati/IBNS: Locals caught a fraud IPS officer from Assam’s Biswanath district on Tuesday and handed over him to police.

According to the reports, the man identified as Smith Sethi had introduced himself as an IPS officer and demanded Rs 50,000 from homeopathic pharmacy located at Biswanath Chariali.

The man visited the pharmacy where he checking documents and demanded Rs 50,000 from the owner of the pharmacy.

For his suspicious movement, locals caught him and interrogated him.

Some local people had also immediately informed police.

Later, locals handed over him to police.

A local youth said that, the man introduced himself as an IPS officer and drug inspector and demanded Rs 50,000 from the homeopathic pharmacy.

“When I reached the area, I noticed that, the pharmacy was closed, but someone was inside there. When the pharmacy was opened and the doctor came out. He said that, a person introduced himself as an IPS officer and demanded Rs 50,000. We immediately informed police,” the local youth said.
