Civilian killed, six injured in Pakistan shelling in Kupwara

Srinagar/UNI: A civilian was killed and six others were injured when Pakistan troops violated ceasefire and resorted to indiscriminate firing and shelling at the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector in the frontier district of Kupwara on Wednesday.

Official sources told UNI that Pakistan troops fired mortar shells and resorted to indiscriminate firing, targeting forward Army posts and civilian areas in Machil sector.

'Majority shells fell in the civilian areas', they said, adding that a person was killed in six others were injured.

They further said several residential houses were also damaged in the shelling.

'Indian troops retaliated and hit Pakistan Army posts', they stated, adding that the exact damage suffered by the enemy troops was immediately not clear, they added.
