RCEP will break the backbone of Indian economy:Congress

Dehradun/IBNS: Congress on Sunday claimed that the signing of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement will break the backbone of Indian economy, media reports said.

Hitting out at the Modi government Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera said here in a press conference that the agreement would be a blow to farmers, small traders and entrepreneurs.

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Khera said had the PM heard "Manmohan Ki Baat" instead of his "Mann Ki Baat", the economy would not have suffered.

Referring to the unemployment statistics, Khera said joblessness in the country was the lowest in the last 45 years.

He said, RCEP would increase India's dependence on country's like Australia and New Zealand for milk, which will affect the livestock population in the country.

Without naming anyone, the Congress spokesperson said companies owned by certain people having influence in the government were earning huge profits while other businesses were closing down owing to growing losses.

He said banks had also lost credibility under the current regime and people were losing their money.

Continuing his attack, Khera accused PM Modi of misguiding people with hollow and fake nationalism.
