New Delhi/UNI: Ahead of the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday called a meeting of prominent members from the Muslim community and said that under no circumstances should be the fabric of social harmony, brotherhood and unity be broken in the country.

"We need to avoid the obsessive celebration of victory as well as the ruckus of defeat and should focus on strengthening our brotherly bond instead," said Mr Naqvi who headed a two-and-a half hour meeting at his residence in the national capital with well-known faces from the religious, social and educational fields of the minority community.

Those present at the meeting appealed to the people of the country to remain cautious of fringe elements who are engaged in a conspiracy to harm the unity and harmony of the society.

"We want to appeal to people to stay cautious of social media because we cannot control it. Nobody should fall prey to fake news and rumours", Allahabad Muslim University Vice Chancellor Tariq Mansoor said.

Likes of BJP National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind general secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani, Sajjada Nasheen Dargah Nizamuddin head Syed Hammad Nizami, Sunni Waqf Board advocate Shaheed Rizvi and noted writer-filmmaker Muzzafar Ali amongst other dignitaries were present in the meet.
