Bengal Guv regrets non-participation of Mamata Banerjee govt in IISF
Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar on Friday expressed his concern over the state government's reluctance to participate in the fifth India International Science Festival 2019, here.
Speaking at the valedictory session of the four-day mega Science event at the sprawling building of Bishwa Bangla Convention Centre here, Mr Dhankar said, ''Science should not be seen through the political spectrum.
''I would have much appreciated the state government, if they had taken interest, extended cooperation and been present in this event,'' he added.
Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest Babul Supriyo also expressed concerned over the Mamata Banerjee-led government not participating in this Science Festival.
''Many Ministers of other states have participated in the annual Science Festival, but no one came from the West Bengal Government,'' he lamented.
The fifth India International Science Festival was inaugurated here on Tuesday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering via video conferencing.
The festival was jointly organised by the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Ministry of Earth Sciences.
