Uttar Pradesh: Bid to kill a Unnao rape case witness reported
Unnao/UNI: A second attempt was made on Friday evening to kill a witness in the Unnao rape case in which Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger and others are the accused and in jail in Delhi, police said.
Earlier, in July, the victim was critically injured while her two aunts were killed.
On Friday, the driver of a truck tried to crush two people, including a former Block Pramukh, both witnesses in the Rae Bareli accident case, on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway here .
According to a police report made by the victims, the truck intentionally hit their car which hit the divider. The truck also hit the vehicle for the second time when the car was on the divider and later the driver of the truck escaped leaving his vehicle.
Both survived as they jumped from the car when the truck hit their vehicle for the second time.
The car was carrying the youth, who had taken the bail guarantee of the uncle of the victim girl and the former block pramukh Awadhesh Pratap Singh, who is the witness in the Rae Bareli accident case in July.
The truck going towards Kanpur from Lucknow hit their car near a dhaba at Gaura Ketherva village under Ajgain police station area. The truck hit the car twice but when the people chased it, the driver fled abandoning the vehicle.
Police here on Saturday said that the the truck has been seized and a FIR has been registered on the complaint of the former block pramukh.
Central Bureau of Investigation is probing the Rae Bareli accident, in which the rape victim sustained critical injuries, along with her lawyer while two of her aunts were killed. They were en route to visit the victim's uncle who was lodged in jail in July last.
The investigating agency had filed a charge sheet against 10 persons, including the BJP lawmaker, in the accident.
