Ayodhya Verdict: Sunni Waqf Board will not file review petition
New Delhi/IBNS: The Sunni Waqf Board will not challenge Supreme Court's verdict which paved way for the construction of Ram Temple in the disputed land of Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, media reports said.
The decision was taken by the majority, though one of the seven members of the board differed.
In the meeting, Sunni Waqf Board also did not decide whether or not it will accept the separate 5 acre land for mosques as ordered in the SC ruling.
Waqf Board chairman Zufar Farooqui had earlier said that the members of the board could raise objections.
After the verdict, Farooqui had said he was against the review petition, but some board members had opposed the stand.
The Sunni Waqf Board was one of the main litigants in the Ram Janma Bhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, which lingered for decades in the courtroom.
However, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board(AIMPLB) has declared that it will file a review against SC's Ayodhya verdict.
It has also maintained its stand against an alternative site for a mosque.
