BJP to drop Pragya Thakur from Defence Panel over Godse remark
New Delhi/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working president Jagat Prakash Nadda said he will recommend the removal of party MP Pragya Thakur from the Defence Panel over her remark referring to Nathuram Godse in the parliament.
Thakur courted a controversy after she had referred to Godse, who had assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Nadda has also condemned Pragya's remark.
"We have decided that Thakur will not attend meetings of BJP parliamentary party during the session," Nadda has been quoted by NDTV.
Just days ago, the BJP MP was nominated to the 21-member Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Defence Ministry.
The Bhopal MP was in the midst of a controversy during the Lok Sabha poll campaign when she had termed Nathuram Godse as a "patriot".
Reacting to her statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had then slammed Pragya and said he won't forgive Pragya for her remark.
