Manipur: Security forces bust illegal drugs manufacturing plant, seize brown sugar
Guwahati/IBNS: Assam Rifles and Manipur police busted an illegal drug manufacturing plant and seized huge quantity of illegal drugs including 41 kg suspected brown sugar in Thoubal district of Manipur.
Police also arrested two persons in connection with it.
Based on information of running of an illegal drugs manufacturing plant in a house owned by a person named Ningkhangam Awungshi, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Thoubal district police led by Thoubal district Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sachidananda Soibam and Major Vikash Rana had launched operation at Sada Khumbi village under Nongpok Sekmai police station on Monday evening.
On searching the house‚ the team found two large plastic sacks containing suspected contraband brown sugar and other items which are used in manufacturing the contraband drugs items.
The security personnel recovered 40.621 kg of suspected brown sugar, four rubber hand gloves, one white cloth, 127 numbers of empty Tobacco cane, two wooden pressing board machines, three plastic sheets from the house.
On the follow up action, from the disclosure of Ningkhangam Awungshi, the combined team rushed to the house of Wungreingam Awungshi of Sada Khumbi village.
After searching the residence‚ the team found two polythene bags containing suspected contraband brown sugar from the back side of the house and items which are used in manufacturing the contraband drugs items.
The joint team recovered 672 grams of suspected brown sugar, one lime bag marked as Star Brand lime weighing 9.536 kg with plastic, one wooden pressing board, one bottles of Ammonium Chloride weighing 50 grams, three camouflage bag, one Plastic Jerrycane of 20 litres capacity containing 10 liters of morphinated liquid, Rs. 2.80 lakh in cash suspected to be sale of brown sugar.
They seized a total 41.293 kg of suspected brown sugar during the operation and arrested the person duo.
Meanwhile, the Thoubal district police has registered a case in connection with it.
