Country is passing through a difficult phase: Akhilesh Yadav
Lucknow/UNI: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the country is passing through a difficult period as the ruling BJP is aggressively pursuing divisive agenda of dividing the people on the lines of caste and religion.
Addressing a meeting of lawyers at the state office of the party on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first president Dr Rajendra Prasad here on Tuesday, SP chief expressed concern over the situation in Kashmir.
The people of Kashmir are facing lockdown for the last over four months yet the BJP is presenting the abrogation of Article 370 as one of its achievements in the election campaign for the Jharkhand assembly polls.
Targeting the Yogi Adityanath government, the former chief minister said the BJP government has failed in discharging its basic minimum duties.
He said despite the announcements by the chief minister, sweaters have not been distributed among the children of the state-run primary schools and in mid-day meal one litre of milk was distributed among 81 children.
He said in one school salt and roti was given to children while the journalist who reported the matter was sent to jail.
"The business establishment is closing down due to slowdown in the economy while the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet colleagues remain in denial mode and are hiding the actual data on the different sectors of economy like unemployment and job losses," Yadav alleged.
Referring to the statement of industrialist Rahul Bajaj, the SP leader said "there is an atmosphere in the country and it will go only after that person is dislodged from power who has created the fear psychosis."
