Jharkhand: Voting ends on 18 out of 20 seats in second phase of polls in Jharkhand

Ranchi/UNI: Voting ended on 18 out of 20 seats which went to polls in the second phase of Assembly elections in the state with average voter turnout expected to be 60 to 65 per cent.

Voting will continue in Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West seats till 1700hrs. Till 1300 hrs, an average voter turnout of 45.33 per cent was recorded on the 20 seats.   

Constituency wise voter turnout till 1300hrs is as follows: Behragora 52.2 per cent, Jamshedpur East 34.9 per cent, Jamshedpur West 33 per cent, Ghatshila 49.9 per cent, Potka 48 per cent, Chaibasa 40.13 per cent, Jugsalai 44.1 per cent, Manjhgaon 51.09 per cent, Jaggannathpur 46.17 per cent, Manoharpur 38.51 per cent, Chakradharpur 46.41 per cent, Sisai 54.56 per cent, Simdega 45.4 per cent, Kolebira 46 per cent, Torpa 43.57 per cent, Khunti 45.96 per cent, Mandar 49.84 per cent, Tamar 49.31 per cent, Saraikela 46.23 per cent and Kharsawan 49.17 per cent.   

Meanwhile, a report from Gumla said half a dozen policemen were injured and a youth was killed in a clash between people and security forces at booth no. 36 in Kudra panchayat area of Baghani village. Post the incident, polling on the booth.

The deceased youth was later identified as Jilani Ansari.

In another incident, the maoists set on fire a bus at Jojohatu under Chaibasa assembly area in the West Singhbhum district. The bus had come to take the polling parties to the relocated both. No casualty was reported in the incident.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das along with his wife, son and daughter in-law cast their votes at booth number 21 of Balubasa middle school. Union Minister Arjun Munda also exercised his franchise along with his wife Meera at Kihilarisai of Kharsawan Vidhan Sabha area.

Former chief minister Madhu Koda and his wife MP Geeta Koda cast their votes at Jaggannathpur.

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon also turned up with his wife to vote at Sisai.

Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda voted with his wife in Khunti.

Former state cabinet minister Saryu Rai, who is piited against Chief Minsiter Raghubar Das from the Jamshedpur East seat also cast his vote.

State BJP president Laxman Giluwa and others also voted.
