Imphal/UNI: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is likely to visit Manipur on December 17 next to pay tribute to the Japanese soldiers killed during World War II in Manipur.
One of the greatest land battle of World War II was fought in Manipur and over 60,000 Japanese soldiers were feared to be killed in the battle.
Japanese government has constructed “Imphal Peace Memorial” at Maibam Lotpa Ching, Bishnupur district where a major battle took place.
Chief Minister N Biren along with his Cabinet Ministers inspected the preparations being made for the visit of Shinzo Abe at Maibam Lotpa Ching, also known as Red Hill at Bishnupur District.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to come to Manipur along with the Japanese PM. A museum was also inaugurated this year at the same place, which was constructed by Japanese government.
