Pakistan violated ceasefire 1000 times on LoC post abrogation of Art 370 in J&K: Indian Army
Jammu/UNI: After the Abrogation of Article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement more than 1000 times along the Line of Control, a senior Army officer here said on Monday.
Defence Spokesperson Devendra Anand, on the sidelines of an event organised to mark 'Vijay Diwas'' here, said, 'in the year 2019, Pakistan along the Line of Control violated the ceasefire for around 2300 times in Jammu and Kashmir out of which, record more than 1000 times was violated post Abrogation of Article 370.'
The Defence PRO further said that the Indian Army had also foiled as many attempts of infiltration made under the ceasefire violations.
'After been defeated in 1971 battle, Pakistan is continuing with its nefarious designs and as per data, as many as 2300 times in 2019, ceasefire has been violated by them along the LOC in Jammu and Kashmir more than 1000 times after abrogation of Article 370, which is a record', he stated.
Indian Army on Monday celebrated the victory of 1971 war against Pakistan as ‘Vijay Diwas’ while tributes were also paid to the martyred soldiers.
On this day, Indian Army also forced Pakistan General Niyazi to surrender with 93,000 troops.
'Our troops are alert and maintaining vigil along the borders and we have successfully foiled all cross border attempts of infiltration as well,' he added.
Meanwhile, 'Vijay Diwas' was commemorated at Balidan Stambh this morning by Tiger Division in which a grand and solemn wreath laying ceremony was conducted with full military honours.
Major General Sharad Kapur, General Officer Commanding of Tiger Division laid floral wreaths at 'Balidan Stambh' and 'Tiger War Memorial'.
Senior Serving Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Jawans of the 'Tiger Division' paid homage.
A large number of veterans and war heroes laid floral wreath and paid homage to the brave soldiers who had laid down their lives for the country in J&K during the 1971 Indo–Pak War.
The sounding of the 'Last Post' on bugles revived proud memories of the supreme sacrifice of our gallant soldiers, who valiantly fought to safeguard the integrity and unity of our country.
The Government of India on August 5 abrogated Article 370, which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and the state was bifurcated into two Union Territories Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
