Anti-CAA protests: Unprecedented security in UP for Friday namaz, internet suspended
Lucknow/UNI: Unprecedented security is in place in entire Uttar Pradesh on Friday in view of the Jume ka Namaz after violence in Lucknow and Sambhal in which one person was killed and 29 others were injured during protest over Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).
Internet services in most of the cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly, Prayagraj , Varanasi and other places have been suspended since late last night.
Officials here said that a large contingent of police has been deployed outside all the mosques where Friday namaz will be held and people will not be allowed to stage any protest or bring out any march.
In Lucknow, authorities have reviewed the security in the entire state late Thursday night. The situation in the state capital was normal on Friday morning after yesterday's violence.
Around 100 people have been arrested for their link with arson, while Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of UP police has been engaged to find out whether any terrorist organisation was involved in the violence in the state capital.
Mohamad Vakil, an auto rickshaw driver, allegedly died of firearm injury during violence.
Police has denied any link with the killing as they claim that security forces did not fire on the protesters.
