Guwahati/IBNS: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday raided the house of Assam peasant leader Akhil Gogoi in Guwahati and seized several documents and his personnel laptop.
According to the reports, a team of NIA had conducted a search operation at the house of Gogoi at Nizarapar area in the capital city of Assam.
During the search operation, the NIA team seized as many as 11 documents, files, laptop, printer machine, PAN card, bank passbook and other items.
The search operation was conducted from 7 am to 10 am.
The NIA team had also conducted search operation at the office of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) in Guwahati.
The peasant leader and advisor of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) was arrested by the premier investigation agency under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) amid protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
NIA has registered a case no 13/2019 under section 120 (B), 124 (A), 153 (A), 153 (B) of IPC and section 18, 39 of UAPA.
The NIA has produced Gogoi before the Special Court of NIA in Guwahati on Wednesday.
On Dec 17, the court had sent Akhil Gogoi to 10-day NIA custody.
