Maharashtra politics: Shiv Sena's lone Muslim legislator Abdul Sattar made Minister of State
Aurangabad (Maharashtra)/UNI: Abdul Sattar Abdul Nabi, the erstwhile Congressman and now the lone Muslim legislator in the Shiv Sena party, was sworn-in as Minister of State (MoS) in the State cabinet expansion on Monday.
Sattar has held the MoS post during the Congress-led government in the State and was at the helm of affairs at the Sillod Municipal Council for several years.
Contesting and winning the Sillod assembly seat for two times in a row on Congress ticket since 2009, the MoS crossed over to the Sena during 2019 polls as his party refused to give him ticket.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has levelled serious allegations of power misuse against Mr Sattar as he dabbles in several corruption cases.
"Mr Sattar misused his powers and was involved in at least 64 corruption cases, worth crores of rupees," AAP told.
"Out of 64 cases, Divisional Commissioner Sunil Kendrekar had set up a five-member special inquiry committee in 13 cases whereas Collector Uday Chaudhari is looking into nine cases," AAP said.
It also claimed that owing to the MoS' political clout, no action has been taken in these cases.
