New Delhi/IBNS: Actress Deepika Padukone on Tuesday went to Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and joined the protests against the attack which took place in the university couple of days ago.

She stood there in solidarity with the students but did not make any speech. Later, she left the campus. She was present there with leaders like former JNUSU president Kanhiya Kumar and injured present president Aishe Ghosh.

About 20 odd people including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh and Professor Sucharita Sen were on Sunday injured after a huge number of people armed with sticks, rods and sledgehammers barged into the university campus, girls' hostel and carried out an attack at a time the students were protesting against the fee-hike.

Earlier Deepika in an interview with NDTV had lauded people for standing up and protesting against the assault on students.

Several Bollywood celebrities including Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Swara Bhasker, Anurag Kashyap had protested against the JNU violence at Carter Road in Mumbai on Monday.
