JNU violence: Delhi Police name suspects, Aishe Ghosh among them

New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi Police on Friday released pictures of nine suspects who were involved in the recent violence that hit  Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi on Sunday.

The police named JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh in the list of the accused persons in the case.

Delhi Police PRO MS Randhawa said a lot of misinformation has been spreading in the social media over the police investigation in the JNU violence incident.

"So far, we have shared information that we have got during the investigation," he said.

Meanwhile, three Professors of the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Thursday filed a PIL in Delhi High Court seeking directions to preserve data, CCTV footage and other evidence related to the violence of Jan 5 in the campus.

A mob of masked men allegedly stormed the campus on last Sunday and targeted students in three hostels of the prestigious institution.

Ameet Parameswaran, Atul Sood and Shukla Vinayak Sawant filed the public interest litigation seeking necessary directives to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Arvind Kejriwal government.

They further sought directions from the HC for preservation and retrieval of all material evidence available with WhatsApp INC, Google INC and Apple INC pertaining to relevant data of WhatsApp groups 'Unity Against Left' and 'Friends of RSS.'
