Kolkata/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today upheld the Indian values of respecting the elders when he touched the feet of an 105-year-old former employee of Kolkata Port Trust while celebrating the organisation's 150 years celebration here.

The KoPT had arranged the felicitation of two of its centurion former workers - Nagina Bhagat (105) and Naresh Chandra Chakraborty (100)- by the Prime Minister at Netaji Indoor Stadium.

After felicitating the 105-year-old worker, who is restricted to wheel chair, Nagina Bhagat wanted to touch Modi's feet. But, the Prime Minister promptly held him to his chest and finally bent and touched his feet in the traditional Indian way of respecting the elders.

At this, the packed indoor stadium, especially the students of various schools, stood up in ovation and cheered Modi - Modi - Modi.
