Bengaluru/UNI: Immigration officials at the Kempegowda International Airport on Friday arrested a Sri Lankan national under Foreign Act after he was deported to Bengaluru from Serbia. Airport officials said that the person identified as Kiyesuyen Jude Donal (24) has been been booked under various sections of the Passport and Foreigners Act, and remanded to judicial custody.

After Donal’s documents were inspected and subsequent questioning Donal revealed that he was born in Kaarunagar in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. His parents came to India in 1991 as refugees during the India-Sri Lanka war and stayed in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu.

Donal acquired an Indian passport from the Coimbatore passport office, by using fake documents to prove his Indian citizenship. He used this passport to reach Serbia via Sri Lanka. He was planning to proceed to France from Serbia. However Serbian officials became suspicious about his nationality and deported him to Bengaluru.
