Jammu Ban Toll Firing: One terrorist killed, security personnel hurt in gunbattle

Jammu/UNI: Security forces have gunned down one terrorist while one security personnel suffered injuries in a gun battle near a Ban Toll at Nagrota area here on city outskirts.

"One of the terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces," a senior CRPF official said.

He added that the operation is still in progress, adding, "one security personnel has also suffered injuries when the terrorists opened fire at the CRPF camp near Ban Toll."

He said that early morning, a group of 2-3 terrorists opened firing near Ban Toll in Nagrota area, adding, "four rounds were fired near CRPF camp at Ban Toll at Nagrota on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, some 12-kms from here."

"Incident of firing near CRPF post at Ban Toll plaza took place," they confirmed.

They said that taking an advantage of darkness, the suspected persons escaped from the spot.

"It was a terrorist attack," they added.

A CRPF official said, " in the wee hours, terrorists fired at CRPF Camp near Nagrota injuring one jawan."

After this the militants slipped away, they added and said, "police, CRPF and Army personnel were rushed to the spot and searches are in progress."

"Police intercepted a Srinagar bound truck at Ban Toll Plaza on Jammu-Srinagar Highway," police spokesman said.

He added that the truck bound terrorists fired on security personnel triggering an encounter, adding, "one policeman injured, one terrorist killed and encounter is going on."
