New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday tore apart the oppositions over their protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and said the ones who themselves brought National Population Register (NPR)in 2010 are now spreading misinformation among the people.

"Census and NPR are normal administrative policies which happen in the country from time to time. The very people who brought NPR in 2010 are now spreading misunderstanding among the people," PM Modi said while replying to a debate on the President's speech at the Rajya Sabha.

"Biometric data was collected in 2010, we came in 2014...We have all the records. Why are you lying? Why are you fooling people," said the PM.

He also slammed the opposition for being stagnant. Modi said the time has come when people should embrace changes and innovations.

"Don't mislead people, don't spread rumours. Changes are always made in governance," he said.

"We have records of our NPR in 2010. You made records and collected data for NPR, we updated the records in 2015 and included those left out of schemes. We helped the poor using your NPR records. We want to update the NPR list so that the poor get more benefits. You brought NPR, now it is untouchable," said Modi.
