Delhi assembly elections: Traders' body lends support to BJP

New Delhi/UNI: Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Friday announced to support the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Delhi Assembly polls 2020.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, while making the announcement here, said that CAIT is a non-political organisation but cannot remain a mute spectator in any election

"Delhi government has done nothing for the traders of Delhi in last 5 years," he said.

He accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not taking even a single step on the most burning issue of sealing.

The traders body also expressed its resentment against AAP for not fielding any traders as their candidate while several trade leaders like Ramesh Khanna from Rajouri Garden, Raj Kumar Bhatia from Azadpur, Ajay Mahawar from Ghonda and others are fighting in these polls on BJP ticket.

"After considering all these facts, the CAIT has decided that the traders of Delhi will support the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Delhi Assembly elections", Khandelwal asserted.

There are about 15 lakh traders in Delhi who employ nearly 30 lakh others. Considering this huge vote bank, the traders body can affect poll prospects in any election. In 2015 Assembly elections, the traders body openly supported the Aam Aadmi Party.
