MNS holds mega rally in Mumbai demanding expulsion of Pakistani and Bangladeshi infiltrators
Mumbai/IBNS: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) today held a mega rally, from Hindu Gymkhana in South Mumbai to Azad Maidan, demanding the ouster of Bangladeshi and Pakistani infiltrators from the country.
Before joining the party workers, MNS chief Raj Thackeray visited the Siddhivinayak temple. Thousands of MNS supporters across Thane, Kalyan, Pune and Nashik joined the procession.
MNS spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande said there was outrage among people against for Pakistani and Bangladeshi infiltrators and they want their expulsion at any cost, reported Hindustan Times. He said the party was getting a good response for the campaign.
Despite organising rallies which apparently garnered the support of thousands, MNS suffered losses in the recent Assembly elections. Raj Thackeray's call against illegal Bangladeshi and Pakistani infiltrators was overlooked by the voters as other issues facing the state were given importance by the voters.
After the rise of his cousin and bitter rival Udhav Thackeray to the helm, Raj Thackeray has been seen moving closer to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, about who he had been critical in the past.
In view of the rally, Mumbai Police has beefed up security in the procession route and used drones and CCTVs for surveillance.
