Madurai: BJP demands suspension of temple officer for allowing non-Hindus
Madurai/UNI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary H Raja on Sunday demanded the suspension of the executive officer of Brahadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur for allowing members of other religions to enter into the temple.
Talking to the media, the BJP leader asked why people like David Maniarasan, Ahmed Kabir and Jainulabeen were allowed inside the temple although it is specified that only those who are “Hindus” be allowed in, particularly into the sanctum sanctorum. Several people belonging to different religions, had accompanied Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman inside the temple wearing foot wears. However, after the temple staffs insisted, they removed their foot wears and went inside the temple, he alleged.
The BJP will stage a protest, if action was not taken against the executive officer of the temple, he said.
Stating that David Maniarasan, Ahmed Kabir and Jainulabeen had earlier protested demanding that consecration ceremony of Brahadeeswarar temple be held in Tamil instead of Sanskrit, Mr.Raja asked why they do they not insist that the Quran be recited in Tamil instead of Arabic in mosques.
Taking a dig at DMK President M K Stalin, he said "coming from a line of politicians who claim to have abolished Brahmin patriarchy, Mr.Stalin has hired a north Indian Brahmin named Prashant Kishor to prepare for the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. It shows Mr Stalin is incapable of handling the party by himself, he added.
He claimed that a church in Pallikaranai in Chennai was forcibly making it's members sign the proposal protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) under a signature campaign supported by the DMK. This Act is not going to affect the Christians in any way, he said.
