NIA files supplementary charge sheet against 4 Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives in Delhi court
New Delhi/UNI: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday filed a supplementary charge sheet against four Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) operatives who conspired to carry out terror attack at various places in India, at Special NIA Court in Delhi, an official statement said here on Wednesday.
The four accused, all from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, are Sajjad Ahmad Khan alias Sajjad, Bilal Ahmad Mir alias Bilal Mir, Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat alias Ishfaq Bhatt and Mehraj-ud-Din Chopan alias Mehraj. The charge sheet was filed under sections of 120B, 121A of IPC, section 18, 19, 20, 38 and 39 of UA(P) Act and section 4 and 5 of Explosive Substances Act.
This case pertains to a criminal conspiracy hatched by the senior commanders of JeM to carry out terror attacks in different parts of India including Delhi-NCR region.
The federal terror probe agency investigation has established that the accused persons are members of proscribed terrorist organisation who were planning to carry out terrorist attacks and propagating the activities of JeM.
A slain terrorist Mudassir Ahmad Khan was the mastermind behind this conspiracy and was also the main conspirators in Pulwama terror attack.
He was killed in encounter with police and security forces in Tral area of district Pulwama in J&K on March 10,.2019.
“ Khan was directly in touch with Mudassir Ahmad Khan. Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat was involved in transportation of Arms and amunitions for strengthening JeM in Kashmir and further harboured the operatives of JeM”, the probe agency said.
One hand grenade was recovered from possession of Mehraj-ud-din Chopan which was to be used against the security forces in J&K for snatching their weapons, the agency further said.
The primary charge sheet was submitted on September 16 last year against these four operatives under sections of 120B and 121A of IPC, sections 18, 18B, 38 & 39 of UA(P) Act and section 4 of Explosive Substances Act, the NIA informed, adding that further investigation has been continued under section 173(8) of CrPC.
