Delhi remains tense after day of violent protests, toll rises to 5
New Delhi/IBNS: A day after violence hit parts of Delhi over the new citizenship law, the situation in the national capital remained tense on Tuesday amid reports that the death toll in yesterday's clashes rose to five.
The violent clashes over the citizenship law in the national capital claimed the life of a policeman and four others on Monday.
UPDATE: A latest update from Delhi Police said the toll has risen to seven.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation in Delhi, reports said.
Amit Shah reviewed the law and order situation in Delhi and directed officials to restore normalcy at the earliest, a Home Ministry official told India Today.

Five bikes were set on fire in Maujpur area of Delhi early Tuesday morning after fresh incidents of stone-pelting were reported from the area, reported the Indian news channel.
Protestors allegedly set a tyre market ablaze near Gokalpuri metro station in North East Delhi.
As many as 10 fire tenders doused the blaze. No casualty was reported.
Arvind Kejriwal appeals to maintain peace:
Kejriwal has urged people to maintain peace.
"Am v worried abt prevailing situation in certain parts of Del. All of us together shud make all efforts to restore peace in our city. I again urge everyone to shun violence. Am meeting all MLAs (of all parties) of affected areas along wid senior officials in a while," he tweeted.
Cop killed:
A head constable of Delhi Police, Rattan Lal, was killed after being hit by a stone in Gokulpuri area while several other policemen, including a DCP, were seriously injured during the hour-long violence.
Rattan Lal, who lost his life during clashes in North-East Delhi's Gokulpuri, was a native of Sikar, Rajasthan. He joined Delhi Police as Constable in'98. He was posted in the office of ACP/Gokalpuri.He is survived by his wife and three children.
Violence hits Metro connectivity:
During the clashes, Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) had to close all entry and exit gates of five metro stations in the violence-hit zone.
India, including the national capital, has witnessed several rounds of protests and violence ever since the new citizenship law was passed by the Centre late last year.
Donald Trump's visit:
New Delhi is witnessing protests at a time when US President Donald Trump is visiting the national capital on the second day of his visit when he will sit for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He will also attend other events in the national capital.
Trump arrived in India on Monday and attended the Namaste Trump event in Ahmedabad besides a tour of Taj Mahal in Agra.
