New Delhi/IBNS: A total of 123 FIRs were registered and 630 people were either arrested or detained so far in connection with the northeast Delhi riots, Delhi Police Spokesperson MS Randhawa said on Friday evening.

Randhawa said forensic science laboratory teams are examining the crime scenes.

The death toll in northeast Delhi communal violence rose to 42. Police have prepared a list of 250 people, including dead and injured, and found that one in three of these victims have suffered bullet injuries. With these figures, the police are investigating how many rioters got access to guns, reports said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced on spot ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 cash for those whose houses have been completely or substantially burnt. The balance amount will be assessed by the PWD department in the next 2-3 days, Kejriwal assured.

He said 18 SDMs have been appointed in Northeast Delhi to look after relief and rescue operations in the riot-hit area of the national capital. They are meeting the people and taking stock of the situation, he added.
