One killed, two injured as group villagers attack them in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills
Guwahati/IBNS: One youth was killed and two others were seriously injured after they were attacked by a group of people in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district on suspicion of being involved in ‘Menshohnoh’ (witchcraft).
Meghalaya police have arrested 27 people in connection with the incident that took place at Passang Sysntung village area on Sunday evening.
According to the reports, a 9-member youth group had gone to Sysntung for a picnic and on their way back they were waylaid by some villagers near Passang area and were assaulted by them.
Three youths were grievously injured while the other six youths managed to escape into the nearby jungle.
Following the incident, a police team had managed to rescue the six others as well as the injured on Monday morning.
The injured youths were immediately admitted at hospital where one succumbed to his injuries before reaching at Shillong civil hospital.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya police have registered a case and arrested 27 persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Meghalaya Home (police) minister Lahkmen Rymbui, no one will be spared who involved in the incident.
“All efforts are going on to nab all the culprits who involved in the incident,” the Meghalaya minister said.
According to police, the nine youths who went to Syntung area are hailing from Madanrting area.
The deceased youth was identified as Macmillan Kharshandy.
