Manipur policeman suspended for spreading false information on Coronavirus
Guwahati/IBNS: Manipur police suspended a policeman for spreading false information regarding Coronavirus outbreak in the state which led to create a panic like situation among the people.
In a order issued by K Meghachandra Singh, Superintendent of Police of Imphal West district stated the policeman identified as Aheibam Ranjan Singh of Imphal West district was suspended for his grave misconduct.
In a video went viral on social media, Aheibam Ranjan Singh was seen as announcing to the public not to come outside and remain indoors as Coronavirus (COVID-19) case has been confirmed in Manipur.
The policeman was allegedly involved for spreading false information on Coronavirus by using police vehicle and microphone.
The suspension order copy stated that – “A departmental proceeding is being contemplated against CD/No 10D0082 Aheibam Ranjan Singh of Imphal West district for his grave misconduct. The undersigned in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Rule 66 of Assam Police Manual Part-III do hereby place CD/No 10D0082 Aheibam Ranjan Singh of Imphal West district under suspension with immediate effect.”
The Manipur police also asked the policeman not to leave his headquarters without prior permission from the police authority.
