Need to pledge that similar incident does not happen again: Arvind Kejriwal on Nirbhaya case execution
New Delhi/IBNS: Reacting to the execution of the dour convicts in the 2012 Delhi gangrape case, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said it is time to take pledge that a similar incident does not happen again.
He said the loopholes in the legal system of the country also need to be corrected.
"It took seven years for justice to be delivered. Today, we have to take a pledge that a similar incident does not happen again," Kejriwal told media.
"We saw how the convicts manipulated the law. So, we need to sit down and correct the loopholes in the system," he said.
Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW), on said the case showed the world the loopholes in the system.

"Asha Devi in all these years and had never lost hope in fight for delivering justice to her daughter. Finally Nirbhaya got justice, it was a long painful wait for the parents and for all of us. The doubts that have been lingering in our minds on justice system got cleared," she said.

Seven years after Nirbhaya was brutally gangraped and murdered in the national capital, leaving the country shocked and triggering series of protests demanding justice for her, all the four convicts in the 2012 case were executed at Tihar Jail in New Delhi on Friday.
Ending a long legal battle, which was extended till late Friday morning, just hours before four were hanged, the execution took place at 5.30 am.
All the four people convicts were identified as Akshay Thakur (31), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26) and Mukesh Singh (32).
