Rajya Sabha elections deferred over Coronavirus outbreak
New Delhi/IBNS: The elections to Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament, have been postponed over the outbreak of the deadly Novel Coronavirus.
The elections were scheduled to be held on Mar 26.
However, 75 districts in 32 states across the country are presently under lockdown to combat COVID-19.
Delhi, the national capital of the country, is under the lockdown till Mar 31.
The elections were scheduled to be held in 55 seats in Rajya Sabha.
However, 37 of 55 members have already been elected unopposed.
The total positive Novel Coronavirus cases in the country rose to 491 on Tuesday with the state of Kerala reporting the most of them.
According the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala has reported 95 cases followed by Maharashtra (87).
