Switch off lights at 9 pm for nine minutes this Sunday, light up candles, mobile flashlights on your balconies: Modi

New Delhi/IBNS: In his video message to the nation, Indian PM Narendra Modi on Friday urged people to switch off lights in their houses at 9 pm for nine minutes on Sunday.

He asked people to light up candle, torch, lamp or mobile flashlight for nine minutes to show their solidarity with each other in their fight against COVID-19.

"At 9 pm on April 5, I need your nine minutes.Shut all lights and for nine minutes light candle, torch, lamp or mobile flashlight," he said.

"Don't assemble anywhere. Please remain in your house and don't break the rules of social distancing," he said.

India on Sunday completes ninth day of its 21-day lockdown.

Over 50 people have died due to COVID-10 in India so far.
