Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that her state was treating 61 active Covid-19 positive cases while 13 coronavirus infected patients had been cured so far.

She also informed that there had been no change in the Covid-19 death toll in West Bengal.

"Till 12 pm. today (Monday), there are 61 active Covid-19 cases in West Bengal and of them, 55 cases are from seven families," Mamata Banerjee said.

"Covid-19 death toll in the state remains at three while 13 persons have recovered from novel coronavirus infections so far and four persons from Kalimpong, who are undergoing treatments at North Bengal Medical College in Siliguri, have tested negative for Covid-19 today," Banerjee added.

"Out of 17 Covid-19 positive patients, who are under treatment at Beliaghata ID hospital in Kolkata, 12 persons are doing well which is a very good sign while health condition of one patient is serious," she said.

Chief Minister said that 2879 persons were under surveillance in 511 government run quarantine centres across the state while Bengal had tested 1301 swab samples so far.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee alleged that IT cell of a political party were spreading misreports about the Covid-19 figures in Bengal.

"It's in my notice that IT cell members of a political party is spreading fake Covid-19 figures in the state using state health department's bulletin format," Banerjee said.

"I would ask everyone to refrain from spreading fake information while my police have been directed to take strict legal actions under Epidemic Disease Act against the rumour and fake news mongers," she added.
