Assam: DC, SP, scribes sent to quarantine after came into contact with COVID-19 patient

Guwahati/IBNS: Two top government officials and some journalists of Assam’s Morigaon district were sent to quarantine after they reportedly came into contact with a COVID-19 positive patient.

Confirming the report, Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Morigaon district were sent to quarantine as they came into contact with a COVID-19 positive patient.

Apart from the two top government officials, few journalists of the district were also sent to quarantine

Two fresh positive cases for COVID-19 were reported from Morigaon district on Thursday and many people reportedly came into contact with one among the two COVID-19 positive patients.

After two persons of Lahorighat area in Morigaon district tested positive for COVID-19, the state Health Department has asked the government officials and the journalists to go for quarantine.

According to the reports, the government official duo and few journalists took part in a programme at Bhurbandha Lahorighat area in the central Assam district on March 31 where the COVID-19 positive patient was also present.

A total of 34 positive cases for COVID-19 have been detected in Assam so far and one positive patient from Hailakandi district died last week.
