Over Rs 33 cr refunded by NFR during lockdown
Guwahati/UNI: Over Rs 33 crore has been refunded to more than 3.67 lakh passengers by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) for cancellation for trains due to nationwide lockdown to combat COVID 19 since March 24 last.
During the first lockdown period from March 24 to April 14, total number of passengers who cancelled their journey ticket was 2,43,939 and the amount refunded to them was approximately Rs 22.41 Crore.
Similarly, during the second phase of lockdown which started on April 15, total 1,23,716 passengers cancelled their journey tickets till yesterday (and the amount refunded to them was approximately Rs 11.40 Crore.
“Till yesterday an amount of Rs 33.81 Crore was refunded by NFR since the lockdown started on March 24 to 3,67,655 passengers who cancelled their tickets,” an NFR statement said here today.
The statement added, “NFR would like to assure all passengers that they need not worry about getting refund, as Ministry of Railways has already decided to give full refund for all ticket for the cancelled trains by amending refund rules.”
Freight train operations are being continued by NFR to ensure the supply essential commodities.
