BSF seizes huge consignment of arms and ammunition

Kolkata, Apr 24 (IBNS): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday said it has seized a huge consignment of arms and ammunition in West Bengal that was set to be smuggled to Bangladesh through Petrapole border.

"On 23rd   April 2014, at about 2130 hrs,on specific information that a huge consignment  was  to be smuggled to Bangladesh through Petrapole border. Troops of BOP-Petrapole, 40 Bn BSF (WB) launched a Special operation in connection with smuggling of Arms & Amn and seized above mentioned.  40 Bn BSF is commanded by Shri Brajendra Kumar. Due to darkness smugglers could not be apprehend and they managed to escape," the BSF said in a statement.

"SPL Ops Party seized following Arms & Amn (one Pistol, One Revolver,  three Katta with  2 Mag and  10 rounds) while these Arms and Amn were  being smuggled to BD," the Force stated.

An FIR has been lodged in Bongaon  Police Station in North  24Pgs.
