Domes of Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara built by Pakistan fall after overnight rain within months of construction

Kartarpur (Pakistan)/IBNS: Within six months of renovation of Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib and its subsequent opening for the Indian pilgrims, mainly Sikhs, the poor quality of construction done by the Pakistani authorities has been exposed by overnight rain and strong winds as the domes fell down, prompting critics to call the Kartarpur exercise a political stunt for Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to sources and images tweeted by a journalist, eight domes installed at Minars, Musem, Dewanistan and at Durshan Deori fell down after rains lashed the area for some hours. Besides these, two kiosks were damaged with some other premises of the Gurdwara.

Allegedly the renovation of the Gurdwara built at the site of the birth place of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, was done using fibre instead of cement and steel, indicating massive corruption in a project of international significance.

The damage to one of the most revered pilgrimage sites of the Sikhs has left the community in shock. Clearly, the efficiency behind quick and time bound renovation of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartapur Sahib ahead of opening of Kartapur Corridor by Pakistan army was exposed.

In a run up to meet the deadlines and save expenses, sources informed that Pakistan government had got the pre-fabricated domes of fiberglass readied and had bolted them on the structure, sources said.

Notably, Pakistan has levied an entry fee of US$ 20 while saying that they need money for the maintenance of the Gurdwara.

"Temporary material for Gurudwaras in Pakistan?? Two domes of recently renovated #GurdwaraDarbarSahib, #KartapurSahib fell during overnight rain and strong winds. The domes were not constructed with cement and iron but fiber," noted journalist Ravinder Singh Robin tweeted.

Responding to the tweet Pakistan Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain  assured of action. " Conveyed this to Noor Ul Haq Qadri sb minister religious affairs with request for an inquiry.. ," he tweeted back.

"Thank you so much, Sir for noticing .Too late, too little. How come a building constructed just 6 months ago collapse so fast. Hopeing inquiry will be on the who built it, and was money diverted. @fawadchaudhry Sir, sharing some more pics of more damage structure .Its [sic] painful."
