Bulandshahr/IBNS: Reminding the chilling murder of the saints in Maharashtra's Palghar, two Sadhus (saints) were killed inside a temple in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Monday night, media reports said.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the crime.

The accused allegedly killed the sadhus days after having an altercation over the stealing of their tongs, police said.

"Preliminary investigation has found that a few days ago, the accused snatched tongs from sadhus, after which they scolded him. Angered by this, the accused killed them both," Bulandshahr SSP Santosh Kumar Singh said as quoted by India Today.

Police further said sharp weapon was used to murder the sadhus.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said on Twitter Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray spoke to his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath over the murder.

"Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has spoken to Yogi Adityanath over the killing of two sadhus inside the temple in Bulandshahr. Thackeray has expressed his worry over the incident. Rising above politics after such an inhumane incident, we should work together to ensure the punishment of the guilty," Raut tweeted.

Earlier this month, three men, including two sadhus, were lynched on the suspicion of theft in Gadchinchale village of Palghar in Mumbai.

The victims, who were travelling in a Ford Ecosport to Silvassa to attend a funeral, have been identified as Sushil Giri Maharaj (35), Nilesh Telgane (35), the driver of the car they were travelling in, and Chikane Maharaj Kalpavrikshgiri (70).

The trio, including the 70-year-old sadhu, was attacked by people following rumours that they were involved in the kidnapping of children for extracting their organs, including kidneys, said a media report.
