Kangra/UNI: A batch of Kashmiri migrant labourers, living in different parts of Shahpur sub-division of this district, were sent to their hometown on Thursday.

Four buses of a local institute were engaged by the local administration to ferry 98 Kashmiris.

SDM Shahpur Jagan Thakur told UNI  that a team of local officers contacted all these persons and they were quite enthused to reach their native places and meet their family members in the month of Ramzan. Most of them sell blankets and warm clothes and employed in other private jobs.

Mr Thakur said  that the local administration tried to ensure a comfortable journey by providing drinking water, fruits and other necessities. Two officials were sent along with them.

Over 1000 Kashmiri migrant labourers were stuck at Dehra, Baijnath, Palampur, Dehra, Indora, Fatehpur and Shahpur area  of this district.

The move came after Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday issued new guidelines allowing stranded labourers and students to return to their native places.
