Guwahati/IBNS: Miscreants attempted to rape two nurses in Assam’s Biswanath district on Saturday night when they were on their way to hospital.

According to the reports, a group of miscreants tried to rape the nurses when they were going to Biswanath Chariali area where they work in a private hospital.

With nationwide lockdown clamped, several incidents of crime are being reported across the country with miscreants roaming the deserted streets.

The two nurses managed to escape their perpetrators and ran away towards the hospital and informed the staff about the incident. Later, the hospital staff and locals nabbed one of the miscreants and handed him over to police.

An official of the hospital said that the miscreants had tried to assault the nurses earlier, but they didn’t disclose it perhaps due to fear.

“The incident happened at the time when they were on the way to the hospital. The incident happened just in front of the petrol pump. We have managed to catch a culprit but others fled from the area,” the official of the hospital said.

Meanwhile, Biswanath district police have registered a case (no -119/2020) at Biswanath Chariali police station under section 341/342/354-A/34 of IPC and detained four persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.
