Covid-19 death toll reaches 50 in West Bengal

Kolkata/IBNS: With two more deaths were reported in last 24 hours, the number of fatalities due to Covid-19 has mounted to 50 in West Bengal while the state confirmed 41 fresh positive cases in the duration of a day, officials said on Sunday evening.

A Covid-19 bulletin issued by state health department on Sunday stated that number of persons recovered from novel coronavirus remained at 199 as no patient was discharged in last 24 hours.

West Bengal has reportedly tested 22915 samples so far with 1939 tests were conducted in last 24 hours.

India on Sunday crossed the psychological mark of 40,000 COVID-19 infected patients in the country as the death toll due to the deadly vrus now stands at 1306, as per released Ministry of Health data.

The country has registered 40,263 positive cases so far.

However, giving some positive hope in the battle against the virus, the country has also seen recovery of 10886 patients.

There are 28070 active COVID-19 cases in the country at present.

India touched the 40,000 mark just a day ahead of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)’s guidelines for a graded relaxation of lockdown kick in.
